another book, another 12,000 steps

I have now read 10 books in 2004. Not bad.

I have also walked another 12,000 steps, although it seems like it ought to be more, because I think the pedometer tilted funny in my pocket on my lunchtime walk.

In any case, it was a pretty good day. Lots of work got done, got to go out for two walks, had lunch at a nice hidden Japanese restaurant, had some good conversations with friends and co-workers, watched "The O.C.," finished reading another book. Amy Tan this time, because it's hard to really read the influenza book in my house all alone while Tom's gone; it's just too still and quiet to concentrate well. I am a backwards person who concentrates best when there is low-level distraction going on.

I miss Tom, though. He's away on business, and he'll be back tomorrow, but the last few days have been very quiet at home, and I miss him. It's weird...I remember really enjoying living alone back in college, but now it's been so long since I have lived alone that it's a bit odd. Sleeping alone is freaky. I don't like it. Only one more day.

books and TV

You're ahead of me!

So bothered by the Luke/Mrs Cooper thing. Yuck. Especially since he keeps calling her Mrs Cooper.

Gah! Jude the Obscure? I'm sorry.

Well, they do say there's no accounting for taste.

I can't stand Hardy. Though I suppose my opinion may be coloured by the fact that the only thing I've read is Return of the Native and that was for AP Lit back in high school.
